This recording is inspired by and dedicated to Mark Tuttle. He has long been a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration and we have been playing together for many years. Despite this fact, and despite having recorded together several times previously, we have never done a pure quintet recording that I felt fully represented our collaborations. This recording is an attempt to remedy that and acknowledge my debt to him.

Additionally, I would like to recognize the incipient influence of Mark Rothko and especially Philip Guston on my creative process during this period.
